Pediatric Chiropractic FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Pediatric Chiropractic Care Answered by Our San Antonio Chiropractor

You probably have some questions about chiropractic care for children. That's okay. Most parents do, if they haven't used this technique on an older child. You may think of it as rough spinal adjustments that are only suitable for adults. But, chiropractic care is so much more than that. At Dr. Phillips Chiropractic, Nutrition, and Wellness, we use gentle and safe techniques that are suitable for children of all ages, even newborns. You'll be pleased to know we are well trained and have treated thousands of children for over 27 years, and your child is in safe hands with us at all times.

Here are some of the most common questions asked about kids and chiropractic care:

Is Chiropractic Therapy Safe?

Yes. It is completely safe. Our chiropractors only use the most easy, gentle techniques on children. Chiropractic care is not just spinal adjustments. It can be stretching the muscles in a gentle, easy way, it can be using a small tool to put pressure on vertebrae to move them (instead of using our hands), it can be soft adjustments with our fingers, and it can even be nutritional counseling without any adjusting involved. No child is ever harmed when getting chiropractic treatment at our office.

What Benefits Does Chiropractic Care Have for Children?

By taking pressure off the nervous system it allows the body to function properly. It is difficult for the body to work properly when nerves are pinched due to mis-alignment in the spine. Our chiropractors take care of that, and a whole new world of abundant health opens up for your child.

What Conditions Does Chiropractic Adjustment Treat?

It effectively treats spinal subluxations and pinched nerves. One of the most common reasons parents use a pediatric chiropractor is to allow the child to have a more health body and lifestyle. Let us help your child to reach his or her full potential by opening up their individual pathway to health through quality chiropractic care.

Is it Painful?

No. Your child will feel no pain when he or she is treated by us. Our chiropractors always use age-appropriate techniques on children, and any pressure we apply in an adjustment is no more than lightly pushing on a tomato to see if it is ripe yet. With infants, the pressure is even lighter, or we use other techniques that involve no pressure at all. Most children find their treatments quite enjoyable.
