How is chiropractic care different from medication for pain management?

While there is no “cure” for fibromyalgia, many doctors prescribe a bevy of medications to manage symptoms, such as joint pain, tender points, and fatigue. While these medications can make a difference, they do so by “covering up” symptoms, rather than addressing their underlying cause. For example, once painkillers wear off, the pain returns. Chiropractic care is different. Adjustments help to manage symptoms by addressing factors that trigger pain. Regular adjustments help to minimize and even reduce the occurrence of pain symptoms.

How can chiropractic care manage pain?

Current research suggests that tender points and joint pain may be amplified by the nervous system, even when there is no clear cause for pain to exist. A misalignment in the musculoskeletal system affects how the nervous system sends and receives pain signals. By restoring proper alignment to the spine, we can improve nervous system communication. Consequently, our patients experience less joint pain and enhanced well-being.

Can anything help my fatigue?

When the body is stiff and sore, basic movements can be incredibly painful and physically draining. Worse, fibromyalgia is accompanied by chronic fatigue and exhaustion, causing some daily activities to seem like an insurmountable burden. Adjustments support whole body health, increasing energy levels and improving sleep at night.
